Love in B Minor Broken Dreams Jen Lucas' complete story edition by Elodie Nowodazkij Contemporary Romance eBooks Reviews

  • I really love Nowodazkij's writing style and Love in B Minor might just be her best story yet. The main characters are crafted so fully it's impossible not to root for them, to fall for them, to break for them. Jen, who I first met earlier in the series, and Lucas, who is new to me but I loved immediately. Jen is snarky and strong, but also totally vulnerable. Lucas is lost and uncertain regardless of how he's rising to fame doing what he loves... But put them together and they make each other stronger. Plus, how evocative is their pairing? A ballerina and a rock star? Tell me that doesn't make your one-click finger trigger happy? And Nowodazkij doesn't disappoint. Their chemistry is amazing.

AND Paris. AND twists and turns. AND deception. Everything you need in a compelling read. )

(While the first two books in the Broken Dreams series are YAs, this one features characters aged more into the new adult range. So get it. Read it. ENJOY IT.)
  • First of all, how great is this story's title?! Love in B Minor is a juicy, guilty pleasure read with powerfully written musical and dance sequences, a gorgeous Parisian setting, and main characters, Lucas and Jen, who've got chemistry for days. Though this novel is part of the Broken Dreams series, it falls more into the NA category than YA, and can be read as a standalone. It's an intense, emotional story with three distinct strengths. First, its romance, which is full of sparks. Second, its diverse cast of characters, who have backstories that are layered and, often, haunting. And third, its conclusion, which is a surprising and exciting deviation from the other Broken Dreams books. Pick up Love in B Minor if you're looking for a read with scandal and heat and characters who'll stay with you long after The End.
  • This was the first book I read by Elodie Nowodazkij and I promise it will not be the last. This was an amazing book and set in Paris - Love and Paris, what a great combination! I really liked both Jen and Lucas, they were strong characters (and no childish hero or heroine). The mystery was great and added so much to the story, I did figure out some before the big reveal, but certainly not all of it - WOW! This was the perfect love story. I would highly recommend this book and if you already have it, by all means move it up on your TBR list. Looking forward to more books by this author.
  • Everything about this book was charming - the main characters, their romance, the city of Paris. I loved how Jen and Lucas had both heat and sweet; there was definite chemistry but they also cared for one another.

I also liked how real they seemed, just ordinary people with extraordinary talents. But even fame and notoriety didn't prevent them from feeling the same loneliness and grief that anyone would.

Plus, the mystery. I won't give anything away, but things start happening with the band and, for awhile, I had no idea who to trust.

I've read all the books in this series and I'm glad Jen finally got her own story. I always knew there was more to her than the "mean-girl" personality she hid behind.
  • This book was a joy to read. The characters were developed so well, that it all became so real. I am sad that this is where the story of these people end.
  • I liked the main characters in the story with their inner conflicts and their struggles to grow beyond them. They succeed but only after some unexpected trials.
  • I love Elodie's books and this is no exception. I really enjoyed the mystery in this one. And the characters, so true to life.
  • I really enjoyed this book. It was hard to put down. It kept me wanting to keep reading to find out what happens. Plus it is romantic which I love.
