Guide to Bigger Fruits and Veggies Homesteaders Guide to Gardening Canning David Laraway 9781793426727 Books Reviews

  • Overall the book contained a vast amount of information. From soil preparation to caning vegetables and meats to wonderful recipes.
The author packed a wealth of information into a book that can be easily read and understood in 30 minutes. What I felt was a bonus, was the information on chickens, for meat as well as for producing eggs. I was able to gather a lot of information on “How To” from growing, canning and then an abundance of recipes to try after reaping the benefits of gardening.
I initially downloaded the digital version but will be purchasing the book to have as a reference for years to come as a better resource for the 50 plus recipes it contains.
  • This book has it all! If you're someone who wants to get into canning or gardening, this book is for you. It's goes into great detail on how to properly can and preserve food! Hands down a 5 out of 5 for me! I can't recommend it enough.
  • Great book! I am new to canning, and this is very usual info!
  • Last fall I had the wonderful opportunity to purchase 20 different products that David, the author, had produced and canned. My whole family and I loved each product we tried! The boys loved the hot spicy salsa’s! Grand kids devoured the pickles of all kinds! My daughters made hot biscuits then filled them with Dave’s raspberry jam- TO DIE FOR!!!
Personally, I never thought I would EVER eat a pickled egg until I opened my jar of Sweet Pickled Eggs. These beauties were amazingly tantalizing! The eggs have a soft sweetness with the perfect blend of pickling. Sliced, served on toast, is a treat but when I made them into eggs salad with some minced celery they were really incredible.
What I love most about this recipe is that now I have a delicious way to preserve my precious organic chicken eggs instead of always giving away my extras.
I am excited to make many of these recipes from my own garden! This book will take its place in my home library as a valuable tool in preserving healthy nutritious foods! -Thank you David!
